Fascinated with all the different teaching philosophies, I strive to achieve a balance of messy, investigative "children's choice" activities, and teacher directed (guided) learning activities. How can I help the children to learn to trust themselves, be creative, imaginative, create their own play, take charge, AND sometimes sit together, follow directions, and work in a group? Can I find a balance?

This is something I started doing in the 80's... twisting pipe cleaners (chenille stems?) to make turkey feet!
